Santa Cruz Trek, Sept. 2009
The Santa Cruz trek out of Huaraz Ancash, Peru was a four day three night excursion into the Cordillera Blanca. Thanks to Galaxia Expeditions for making our trip as comfortable as possible, very tasty and for providing a great guide or guia, Miguel.
Check out my Flickr page to see all of the trek photos.
Roberto.

Big kids play with big toys.

That's not us.

Just to get to the beginning.

Getting our asses ready.

Gear.

We are off into the valley.

First of many crosses on our journey.

Skeptical.

Fearless.

Into the Valley Paria.

Water below and above.

The storm breaks apon the mountains. Then tried to break us.

Day two begins with high clouds, medium clouds and low clouds.

Not my ass on the edge.

Donkeys, Donkey driver, Donkey driver's daughter and the Cook Umberto overtaking us.

Almost to the top.

Made it.

Punta Union, 4750 meters above sea level. That's 15,583 feet.

Stairways created thousands of years ago.

Caught.

First look at the Santa Cruz Valley.

Miles and miles.

To trudge: a twelve plus mile day.

Camp Two.

Our party in the distance.

Our way out.

Above Camp Three.

The end of Day Three and beautiful weather at last.

Back into civilization

Eugenio and his trade.
